A meeting of Produce Guild members was held on July 23rd 1948 to discuss the starting of a village stall in Bishops Waltham, the meeting was held in Mrs Maries' house. Those present were :-
Mrs Atkins, Miss Townsend, Mrs Spencer, Mrs Symes, Mrs Pook, Mrs Williams, Mrs Pomeroy, Mrs Jones, Mrs Brown, Mrs Maries, Mrs Nutley, Mrs Griffs & Mrs Keir.
It was unanimously decided that a stall should be started as soon as possible, Mr Stainer was prepared to let us use his shop once a week for a small charge, it was decided to make it Wednesday mornings.
To cover initial expenses, 5/- shares were issued, and a committee was formed comprising of :-
Chairman Mrs. Kier, Treasurer Mrs. Nutley, Secretary Mrs. Fradd, Controller Mrs. Atkins, Asst. Controller Mrs. Williams. Also voted on to the committee were Mrs. Pook, Mrs. Bury, Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Griffs.

At the next meeting in December 1948 the Treasurer reported profits of £17-4s-5d & after expenses of £11-2s-3d and repaying the share money to members they were very gratified to learn that they had a profit in hand of £6-2s-3d! The Controller had received a letter from The National Federation of Womens Institute asking if we would join N.F.W.I. Marketing Society, this was voted against as we would have to pay 1% of 1948 turnover. The Controller suggested that the profits be used to buy such furniture as was required for use in the shop, she also suggested that a man be appointed to help on the committee but it was decided to leave this until a future date! It was agreed to pay Mr. Stainer 3/6d weekly rent.

At the meeting held on Wednesday September 7th it was decided not to affiliate to the NFWI as a Fareham member who came to the meeting did not advise same as a proportion of their profit was so taken. It was decided to apply for a cake making licence, it was also suggested that if the vegetable situation became worse in January, February and March we might close for these three months. It was also suggested by the Controller that as we were in a fair financial position we should only deduct 1d in the 1/-!!! commission.
